Sport Yukon congratulates all members of Team Yukon ahead

of the Canada Summer Games

On Aug. 5, the Team Yukon delegation will be headed to the Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario.

Team Yukon will be sending over 150 of the territory’s best amateur athletes to Niagara to represent the Yukon in 10 sports.

“The athletes, coaches and support personnel have worked extremely hard to make it to the Games,” said Sport Yukon executive director Tracey Bilsky. “It is an honour and responsibility to represent your territory and we know they will do everyone proud.

“Good luck to everyone representing the Yukon.”

It has been three years since Team Yukon has been to a major games. The Team was ready to go for the 2020 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, but those were cancelled. No major games in Canada have been hosted since the onset of the pandemic.

“It gives these Games a lot of meaning,” said Bilsky. “Even though there was lots of uncertainty, the athletes and coaches stayed diligent in their training to be ready for Niagara.”

The 2022 Canada Summer Games will run from Aug. 6-21.
