Team Yukon Wins Big At Multiple Games

Yukon athletes have kicked off 2023 with a bang, representing the territory at both the Arctic Winter Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, as well as the Special Olympics BC Winter Games in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Arctic Winter Games

The first Arctic Winter Games in five years were a rousing success for Team Yukon athletes, who managed an incredible 169 total podiums (61 gold, 56 silver, 52 bronze), the most of any team. Our massive 350-strong team of athletes, coaches, support staff, and more should be incredibly proud of how they have represented the Yukon and shown the highest caliber of competitive spirit throughout these games.

Special Olympics BC Winter Games

Yukon Special Olympians competing as Team 23 at the Special Olympics BC Winter Games were also met with terrific results, reaching the podium 10 times (2 gold, 6 silver, 2 bronze) in cross-country skiing, figure skating, and curling.
